Welcome

Welcome to The Lotus-Heart vegetarian café and restaurant where we hope you will find a unique and peace-filled inner-city dining experience.

The Lotus-Heart is independently owned and operated by students of Sri Chinmoy. We aspire to create a small corner of the world that is inundated with the spirituality and philosophy of our meditation teacher and to offer a peaceful oasis with music and videos to inspire the heart.

The Lotus-Heart café was originally established 13 February 1996 at 595 Colombo Street Christchurch and The Lotus-Heart restaurant in Cathedral Square opened its doors on 7 January 2008.

The Lotus-Heart is dedicated to conscious living healthy eating and strives to create a global cuisine naturally with pure vegetarian food. We use the freshest non-GMO locally grown and organic fruit and vegetables where possible, pure vegetable oils and avoid the use of microwaves unless specifically requested due to time-constraints. Our coffee is fairly traded and organic. We include a wide variety of savoury and sweet dishes free of dairy products gluten and low in fats.

Here we hope you find an everyday oasis. A place to gather with friends or enjoy a quiet moment alone. Comfortable, friendly and wholesome. A place to recharge and feel rejuvenated.

Enter the heart of the lotus a vegetarian haven where we sincerely hope your meal will not only satisfy your tastebuds but also nurture your soul.
